Thursday morning we decided to take the back road from Hana, technically the Pi’ilani Highway. Although many sites discourage visitors from taking this route, I would suggest otherwise if weather conditions are favorable! The views are quite spectacular. The first stop in the morning was at a roadside produce stand for some apple bananas.
After 3 hours we were thirsty (in need of coffee), so we headed back toward Hana after being told that there was “nothing” in the other direction. We found a vendor selling soda and then headed back toward Kaupa and found an organic farm stand selling coffee – grown and roasted on site!
Now that we were sated, we were ready for the adventure!
We ended the day with a nice dinner at Sansei Sushi in Kihei.
